Mama Mia, Pizza Pizza

01 Jun

Pizza time! Oh my gosh, I have been craving pizza for the longest but I wanted to make it myself. Many good ones in the freezer just have way to much sodium. I got some pizza dough from the supermarket and began the pizza making extravaganza. Okay, maybe it’s not that serious lol.

I made four mini pizzas in total. All you have to do is get dough or make dough according to package directions. Or you can buy a pizza crust, but I know many of those have a lot of sodium too. Then simply add what ever toppings your heart desires.

My boyfriend and I had different toppings, but I’m only going to give you the stats for mine. He likes his meat on pizza and his had lean ground meat and salami slices. My first was a basic pizza with pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, basil, garlic powder and a sprinkle of 1 cup chopped spinach.

This one I had for lunch with an apple on the side…It was quite delish!

The next batch I made was to save for a day I craved pizza again. I made a “Parmesan Basil Spinach” pizza with a garlic basil spread. For the spread I melted 1/2 Tbsp light butter and mixed 1/8 tsp of both garlic powder and basil then spread it onto the pizza dough. I then added mozzarella cheese, sprinkled 1 cup chopped spinach and 1/2 Tbsp parmesan cheese. My boyfriend’s was the same lol.

I can’t wait to have this one…just look how good the details look. All you have to do is cook it halfway and then stick it into a container or giant ziplock bag and freeze. To reheat just put it back in the oven like you would any frozen pizza…Enjoy!

How do you work out the calories for the pizza? I would have to make my own dough and not sure how to work out the cals?

Hey Sarah! Well the thing is I bought the dough already made from the supermarket and it had the nutrition stats. Like for example if it says servings is 5 at 300 calories each, I multiply 5 times 300 and that gives me 1,500. Since I made only 4 serivings, you divide 1,500 by 4 and that gives you around 375 per pizza. Then toppings I just know how much is in the string cheese, butter, sauce because of what it says on the pacakging. For things like meat, I just estimate like that eyeballing portions chart I gave you Hope this helps :)
