Yet another oatmeal breakfast square recipe brought to you by Sabrina! The reason why I love this apple cinnamon oatmeal breakfast square is not only you can use it as a breakfast, but you can also use it as a dessert! Like I’ve been doing with the pumpkin oatmeal breakfast square; using it as a base and putting pumpkin gelato on top for a faux pumpkin pie, I’ve used this one as a dessert too. You can see that on the bottom of this recipe. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
1 1/4 Cup of Rolled Oats* (Not Instant)
1/4 Cup of No Sugar Added Applesauce
1/4 Cup of Milk (Your Choice)
2 Tbsp Egg Beaters or 1 Egg White
1 Finely Chopped Red Delicious Apple*
3 Tbsp of Walnuts*
2 Tbsp of Pure Maple Syrup*
1/2 tsp each of Vanilla & Cinnamon
Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit. Combine all ingredients into a bowl, saving a few walnuts and oats for garnish.
Spray a cookie sheet with non-stick cooking spray and evenly spread granola mixture to form a large rectangle. Sprinkle a few more walnuts and oats for garnish. Sprinkle more cinnamon, if desired. Bake at 350° for about 25-30 minutes, depending on your oven. Be sure to check every 15 minutes. Once cooked, remove from heat and cut immediatly. Makes about 6-8 squares.
End result of this apple cinnamon oatmeal breakfast square? Gets used as a faux apple pie à la mode with cinnamon toasted coconuts and almonds and a drizzle of pure maple syrup. I actually like this one better than the pumpkin!
*Use gluten-free oats to make it allergen friendly!
*You can choose what ever apple you’d like but I prefer red delicious.
*I used almonds for this recipe but I am suggesting you use walnuts…I’m allergic to walnuts boo!
*You can choose to use honey instead of maple syrup too!
*You can add what ever you’d like too! Get creative!

Hi Sabrina, Veronica from Italy here. Your blog is awesome!
I’m struggling with several food intolerances and hypoglycemia so it’s very important that my meals are always very balanced and low glycemic.
It’s just a bit hard for me to manage american doses because in Italy we never use “cups” to measure ingredients. Can you tell approximately how many ml a “cup”is?
How many of these squares do you usually eat for breakfast? Do you eat only these for breakfast or you add something else like fruit, milk, yogurt?
Thank you

Hi Veronica! Thanks for the lovely comment
If I am super hungry I will do 2 squares but mostly I do one with a fruit or a yogurt depending on my mood! Oh and there are 237ml in a cup
