Is it just me or does as it get colder, chocolate cravings increase? Yeah. I think that is totally it. In the summer I am all about coconut and fresh fruit. Winter? All about chocolate in any shape or form. Oh and sweaters. Love sweaters (thanks mom) <3
Fall is so close and I am excited. I love everything about the fall, as it’s my favorite season. It’s all about pumpkin, apple pie, cinnamon aromas and woods-y scents for me. Speaking of woods, I found this awesome cashmere woods candle by glade. Smells yummy and oh so fall-y!
Maple is a must too for the fall. I found Madhava’s Maple Agave Nectar and I wanted to try it out since pure maple syrup can get pretty pricey. The results? It’s definitely much sweeter then pure maple syrup, meaning a little goes a long way with this.
Which reminds me, I made this delicious “chocolate frosting” with it. It’s gluten-free, peanut free, corn free, and vegan! Top it on a gluten-free brownie or cupcake.
Or make some chocolate protein pancakes (mix 1-2 Tbsps of cocoa powder into batter) and top with chocolate “frosting” for a Sunday treat.
Ingredients For Chocolate ”Frosting”
- 1 Tbsp of Non-Dairy Milk (I used unsweetened vanilla soymilk)
- 1 Tbsp of Cocoa Powder
- 1 1/2 Tbsp of SMOOTH/ CREAMY Nut Butter (I used Barney’s Creamy Almond Butter)
- 2 tsps of Agave Nectar (or Pure Maple or Honey if not vegan)
Mix everything very well into a small bowl to reach “frosting” consistency. If too thick, add a tad more agave and/or milk. If too thin, add a tad more almond butter and/or cocoa powder. I usually end up adding a tad more agave and cocoa powder. Makes four 1-Tbsp servings of frosting.
Since it depends on what ingredients you use, I won’t put the calorie count. My version’s stats? 55 calories and 4.5g of sugar compared to about 70 calories and 9.5g of sugar for conventional chocolate frosting. I assure you, this “frosting” taste so decadent, you wouldn’t believe that it’s all natural and better for you.
Just try it out and let me know what you think. So tell me? Do you like fall and all the goodness it brings?
I know I do
