Yet another oatmeal breakfast square recipe brought to you by Sabrina! The reason why I love this apple cinnamon oatmeal breakfast square is not only you can use it as a breakfast, but you can also use it as a dessert! Like I’ve been doing with the pumpkin oatmeal breakfast square; using it as a base and putting pumpkin gelato on top for a faux pumpkin pie, I’ve used this one as a dessert too. You can see that on the bottom of this recipe. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
1 1/4 Cup of Rolled Oats* (Not Instant)
1/4 Cup of No Sugar Added Applesauce
1/4 Cup of Milk (Your Choice)
2 Tbsp Egg Beaters or 1 Egg White
1 Finely Chopped Red Delicious Apple*
3 Tbsp of Walnuts*
2 Tbsp of Pure Maple Syrup*
1/2 tsp each of Vanilla & Cinnamon
Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit. Combine all ingredients into a bowl, saving a few walnuts and oats for garnish.
Spray a cookie sheet with non-stick cooking spray and evenly spread granola mixture to form a large rectangle. Sprinkle a few more walnuts and oats for garnish. Sprinkle more cinnamon, if desired. Bake at 350° for about 25-30 minutes, depending on your oven. Be sure to check every 15 minutes. Once cooked, remove from heat and cut immediatly. Makes about 6-8 squares.
End result of this apple cinnamon oatmeal breakfast square? Gets used as a faux apple pie à la mode with cinnamon toasted coconuts and almonds and a drizzle of pure maple syrup. I actually like this one better than the pumpkin!
*Use gluten-free oats to make it allergen friendly!
*You can choose what ever apple you’d like but I prefer red delicious.
*I used almonds for this recipe but I am suggesting you use walnuts…I’m allergic to walnuts boo!
*You can choose to use honey instead of maple syrup too!
*You can add what ever you’d like too! Get creative!
